West Acre Farm is a small, woman owned market farm located on the north west edge of Mount Brydges ON. We'll be selling exclusively at our farm stand, 22979 Rougham Road.
2025 is our first year we've chosen to learn about and adopt, as we go, regenerative and sustainable methods from the start. These practices result in quality produce without the need for fertilizers, fungicides or pesticides. Biodiversity is created by growing a wide range of vegetables and flowers which establishes a thriving ecosystem to support pollinators and beneficial insects that naturally balance pests and plant health issues.
Being ecologically respectful and choosing sustainable methods is important to us. We're proud to be a plastic limited farm & encourage you to bring your own re-usable bag or basket when visiting.
We hope to open soon!
Both my husband, Robert Bobinac, & I grew up in Mount Brydges but didn't meet until years later. We've spent the last 19 years together with our daughter Hailey, and 17 of them running our business. Red Iron Design, a custom iron fabrication shop, that was actually started out of the welding shop right here on the property.
For over 40 years Rob's dad ran his business, Pete's Welding, out of this shop. When he retired we took the opportunity to buy the property and move our business back to the place where it started. It came with 1 acre of beautiful sandy loam soil, a dream for market farming. We've only been here since November '24 but I've decided to go for it right away. 2025 will be the first growing season & I'm so excited to get started.
Red Iron Design is not going anywhere. We'll continue fabricating and welcome back Peter's customers for repairs. You can learn more about Rob & Red Iron Design here.
In complete contrast to farming, I trained for Interior Design at Fanshawe College. I've used those foundational skills in my work with Red Iron Design, but frequently drew inspiration from nature. Through Red Iron Design, I was introduced to a local garden tour which featured urban vegetable gardens. Living in the city, I naturally started my own.
Gardening as a hobby quickly escalated into a passion for growing food. Everyone who visited my garden was so engaged and curious that I came to realize how detached we all are from the current food system. Learning about small 'market' farms was the inspiration to create a market farm & provide local, clean food to the community.
Farming isn't gardening. While I don't have any formal training in agriculture or horticulture, I'm banking on a decade of growing experience, knowledge in business and tons of research. You could probably throw in some blind faith and a sprinkling of delusion too.
